Volunteering at the Masbro

The Community Participation Project provides opportunities for voluntary work with the many activities run in and around the Masbro Centre. Local people work as classroom assistants for the Access to Education project, help in the Youth Club and the Crèche, and are found in great numbers helping to make the Playscheme and Carnival a brilliant success.

There is a Reading and Writing Service for the visually impaired. Blythe Good Neighbours (volunteer befrienders) make many visits to disabled and isolated older people and help with small chores like shopping, wheelchair pushing or just spending time providing company and friendship.

Volunteers have cooked an array of dishes for Masbro Themed Lunches, provided Critiques of Writers work, put on Mothers' Day Bazaars and supported the SummerDaze outings for elderly and disabled.

Our Front Garden, tended with care by a long-term volunteer has received a commendation in the recent Borough gardening competion.

Volunteers, by helping disadvantage people in the community, are able to extend their social networks and gain valuable life skills, increase confidence and self-esteem.
